One Good Idea...

One good idea to use for teachers is giving their students a tour of the campus.  One teacher I worked with set this up on our campus - thank you Genie!  Especially on large campuses like high schools, students need to know where to find places and people who can help them.  On the first day of school we did a tour and found the cafeteria, the office where the principals and counselors are, the liaison officers office, the gym, and the nurses office.  We also met different people who could help them every day.  Students who did not communicate verbally would use picture symbols to find who they are looking for and to say "hello" or "I need help".  Good idea for students and teachers.

My Educational Philosophy

Adams, C., & Pierce, R. (2006).   Differentiating instruction: a practical guide to tiered lessons in the elementary grades . Waco, Tex: Prufrock Press. Inclusion and differentiation are frequently-used words in the education field for teachers and administrators trying to meet the needs of all students in their classrooms and schools.  The authors are not only professors at the university level they also are professional development speakers that provide consultations with schools.  Differentiation has not always been taught to educators and this book provides the opportunity to help educators learn a model to assist students in their classrooms to be more successful.
